Radio Station

Mega Radio

Mega Radio is a specialist radio station that plays music listened to by 15-29year olds, such as drum&bass, grime, bassline, garage, dupstep and jungle. We will broadcast through TV and DAB radio and also through internet, this is because our target audience will prefer to listen through these formats. We are also going to offer podcasts to download from our website, so that our listeners can listen on their ipods.

There is a gap in the market for this station as urban music is becoming popular and the only station that broadcasts in/to hampshire that supplies urban music is radio 1xtra.

Target Audience

My target audience for this assignment is going to be the younger generation that are into music like drum&bass, jungle, dupstep, bassline, garage and house. They will be aged between 15-29 years olds who like o go out at the weekends to bars, pubs and raves. They will either be in education studying or in full-time work. Their fashion style will be ranged, what links them together is the music and nightlife they are into. I will be targeting both genders, not one specific gender.

Potential Topics

In my podcast i will need a topic that will interest my target audience, get them involved, and also want to find out more. To get all of this in its going to need to an event so that i can included, interactive texts, competition to give away tickets, and notify my audience of the nightlife available to them.

Possible events to talk about:

• Flood, Sweat and Tears - District promotion
• Squire @thebarn - Alination promotion
• White Party - DirtyDandy promotion

These are all events made by local promoters with local talented DJ's, so will be something our listeners are very interested in.

Evaluation

Our podcast was aimed at the younger generation aged 15-25, that like underground music such as drum and bass, house and jungle. 

In our podcast we look at the night life in portsmouth with a focus on dirtydandy promotions this is because they had an event coming up.

Using local dj in our podcast is really good as it gets them noticed and known. Also our competition went really well.
